Why is marking important?

Marking is important because it can help to slow down or stop the other team from scoring. When you are marking, you need to stay close to the attacker and have good coordination.

Having good coordination means that you are able to move your body easily and in the way you want to. It can help you to dodge players on the other team and might help you to score goals for your team! Keeping possession - control of the ball - means that a team has more chances to be able to score a goal.
