This Whole Class Balinese Penjor Craft Activity is a great way to commemorate Balinese Nyepi celebrations in March or can be used as a fun craft activity at any time of the year. Penjor are prayer items placed on the streets in front of temples, houses and businesses during Balinese Hindu ceremonies.
Penjor are not specific to Nyepi and is more commonly associated with Galungan and Kuningan ceremonies. This Whole Class Penjor Craft Activity includes a number of individual paper craft activities that are joined together to create a single penjor.
The resources needed to complete the activity are: A4 paper, staplers, scissors, sticky tape and a bamboo pole, tree branch or broom handle, approx. 1.5m long. There are five parts to the activity, each of which can be completed by a different group of students. This activity is a lovely way to create a ceremonial penjor to represent all the students in the class and provides a beautiful classroom decoration.

Penjor are prayer items placed on the streets in front of temples, houses and businesses during Balinese Hindu ceremonies.
