Why not learn about a NASA astronaut ID badge? This fun STEM challenge will test your knowledge of space, while also incorporating maths, design and problem-solving.
You can use this Passport in Science to track your learning journey through the Solar System and to help to decide what to learn about next!
This beautifully written story is about a little boy called Hal, who has to complete a special adventure for Mission Control. Can he find the missing Sun?
This fabulous pack of games about space are a great way to practice adding and subtracting fractions with the same denominator.
You can have fun making these great space-themed cheesy moons and stars and fruity rockets.
Discover how the Earth’s orbit and tilt on its axis create the seasons, with this handy comprehension activity, which will also help to develop reading skills.
You can create your own phases of the moon diary, by looking at the moon (if it’s visible) every night for 28 days. You can record the changing phases of the moon by drawing a picture of the shape of the moon each night. This investigation is best done in the autumn or winter when the nights are longer and darker.
You and your child will need to put on safety goggles to do this experiment. Firstly, take an old film canister, or the type of canister that holds some medicines. Snap an effervescent, heartburn relief antacid tablet into 4 pieces. Fill the canister with about 3-4 cm depth of water. Drop the antacid tablet pieces in and quickly put the lid on. The lid should come shooting off at rocket speeds. It’s really important to do this experiment outside, where there is lots of space and you must stand well back.
Imagine you're an astronaut in space and try to write a story about your day.
